Greetings HD residents, it's good to be back with you after my absence from the previous Winter newsletter. As you've noticed, I've been busy finding all those nuts I buried, many of which I keep thinking are in your flower beds! I guess I stuck up too many post-it-notes in my tree hollow.

Just so you know, my main mating seasons are December and June. So, I'll be quite busy next month, competing with other males for mating privileges. This should be a good show for you. I'd like to tell you more about this, but the editor has told me that this is a family newsletter so we'll just leave it there.

If any of you spot a new litter of Rustys this summer, please take a snapshot and we'll put your photo in the next newsletter.

Kids of all ages can email me at: Rusty@hdna.org

Bob Mynster

My wife and I are 17 year HD residents on Broadmoor and our son is a freshman at Irving High.

My father was a WWII Vet and I am a Vietnam Vet. I would like to encourage all HD residents to participate in the Irving Rotary Club's Flags Over Irving. It's an easy way to do good for the community and show your patriotic spirit. Rotary Club volunteers and Boy Scouts will do all the work. The flags will go up at dawn and will be taken down at sunset on five holidays. They will be displayed on 10 foot metal poles inserted into small PVC plastic sleeves that will be inserted permanently into yards.

The annual cost is $30, and the proceeds will be used toward the scholarships awarded each year to college-bound seniors from Irving’s high schools. Veterans and seniors age 65 and over receive a $5 discount.

Last Veteran,s Day I had Broadmoor lined with Flags at just about every house. It was very striking and makes a strong statement about community spirit!

To get a form, Email: flags@hdna.org

If you do not have email call me at 972-554-0675

Also, I want to mention that Carter Hallmark of MacArthur Ct. and Robert Byrd of Cripple Creek are Rotary members who are key volunteers with the Flag Program in the Hospital area. Thank you neighbors!

Note: You can still contact Bob in plenty of time to participate on July 4th.

McNeeley Scholarship

"Mac's" Picture
What's New On-Line
What's the Idea behind HDNA?

An HD Resident will be honored this month as Pampa High School awards the first Clifton McNeeley Scholarship

My name is Peggy McNeeley and I live on Glen Vista. I appreciate the opportunity to write to you about the scholarship established for "Mac" (as Clifton is called). Mac is known for leading the Pampa High Harvesters to four state titles and fashioning a 72-game winning streak.

Over half a century later, Pampa High still remembers and honors Clifton and even named their gymnasium after him. We feel so blessed with all that has happened! (The award will be given in May.)

Here in Irving, Mac was Assistant Superintendent of the Irving Independent School District. Since his job took him to all of the Irving schools, Mac found the central location of the Hospital District to be perfect, and we both grew to love the neighborhood.

Mac is now living at Hearthstone, is happy, and stays active walking as he did in the neighborhood. We both appreciate the many friendships made in the Hospital District and Irving.

You may email me at: PeggyMcNeeley@hdna.org

We'd Love to Hear Your story - send in your articles and share what's happening in your part of the neighborhood.

What's New On-line

In addition to a newsletter archive, crime statistics and calendar, a new feedback page has just been added! You can contribute your feedback with a simple email to: feedback@hdna.org

And, even more new features are planned for the HDNA.org web site!!

To be a part of new developments and to find out what's coming, sign up for email alerts today.

HDNA.org was created in February 2000 as a gift to residents to provide technology to connect people through the Internet and create a neighborhood cyber-community.

Its aim is an improved style of neighborhood association - one that keeps the best aspects, while eliminated the boring meetings, gossip, politics and other inefficiencies of older methods of communication.

By eliminating scheduling conflicts, telephone tag, and delays in waiting for endless meetings to happen, your HDNA.org web site will connect you anytime YOU choose. And, you can present feedback and ideas as often and as many times as you like.

Newlsetters are currently mailed to residents and area businesses, and we can get together for events and projects you want to help with or take part in.

HDNA is the only organization to incude ALL of the streets that have been known for decades as the Hospital District, and whose boundaries were drawn by history, and common use by both residents and real estate professionals. See the Map for details.

With over 100 active participants, we are well on our way and it is very exciting to see it grow together.

With on-line tools and 24/7 availability, you'll be able to work on what you want, when you want, and communicate with your neighbors when it's convenient for you. HDNA.org is a simple recipe of philanthropy and fun.

Participation is completely FREE and as easy as sending mail, dialing a phone, or clicking email.

Our thanks to Future World Corporation for it's generous support in printing and mailing the HDNA Leaf-Let newsletter.                              Page 3

You're Invited to help plan the Great Flag Caper of 2003!

Many of you expressed an interest in the Flag Project in the survey of the Winter issue of the HDNA Leaf-let.

All are invited to attend a Potluck Supper at 6 PM on Sunday, May 25th graciously hosted at the home of Nell Anne Hunt at 3704 Hidalgo to plan this year's "caper" and hopefully expand the route within the Hospital District!
