Meet Rusty Junior!

Greetings HD residents. As a proud parent, I thought I would share a picture of Rusty Junior.
I've been busy with Junior's summer activities - taking him to one of your pools for his first taste of chlorinated water, playing hide-and-go-seek around a tree trunk, and learning that sometimes you feel like a nut!
What do Junior and I eat? See the Fall issue.

On July 1st, a blue jay found in the area bounded by MacArthur, O'Connor, Rochelle and Northgate was confirmed to be carrying the West Nile Virus.
The City is actively involved, and you can help, too. Eliminate standing water on your property. Empty, cover or turn upside down anything that could hold water. Repair leaky outdoor faucets. Water standing for just a few days can produce a crop of mosquitoes. Avoid being outside at dusk and dawn, dress in long sleeves and pants, and use repellent with DEET.
Keep things in perspective: Last summer less that 300 people died of West Nile, while 5,000 died of food poisoning! (NY Times) To report mosquito problems, call the City's 24-hour Mosquito Hot Line: (972) 721-3755

A salute to you, neighbors! Your participation in the Irving Rotary Club's Flags Over Irving was outstanding! Out of 240 Flags flying over Irving this past July 4th, a whopping 135 of them were in the Hospital District!
Proceeds will be used toward scholarships awarded yearly to college-bound seniors from Irving's high schools.
A special opportunity! Prepay for 2004 and get a free holiday placement! The cost is only $30 a year ($25 for seniors (over 65) and veterans). If you sign up before October 31st, you will have a flag placed on Veteran's Day, November 11th, 2003 free plus all five holidays in 2004 To get a form email: flags@hdna.org If you do not have email, call: 972-790-5963
Special thanks to Hospital District Rotarians Bob Mynster of Broadmoor, Mike McGee of Green Oaks, and Bob Byrd and Bob Berry of Cripple Creek !
A newsletter archive, crime statistics calendar, and a feedback page have recently been added! You can contribute your feedback with a simple email to: feedback@hdna.org
And, even more new features are planned for the HDNA.org web site, including a new HD Services Directory which will be built from the Surveys that have been returned.
Also, HD E-lerts are sent whenever a neighborhood issue arises. The latest e-lert was about a property requesting a zoning change. Make sure you're signed up by emailing hdna@hdna.org today!

What's the Idea behind HDNA?
|
Your Neighborhood Restaurant is Crystal's Pizza
|
Nelda Bentle moved to the Hospital District 4 years ago from Connecticut. We'll miss her, but we share her excitement for her new home at Amon Carter Lake.
Her HD home is for sale, and if you are interested email Nelda@hdna.org There are 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a 2 car garage and carport.
The house features an office or studio, 5x7 cedar closet, sprinkler system, security system, & covered brick patio.
We'd Love to Hear Your story - send in your articles and share what's happening in your part of the neighborhood.
Letters to the Editor: editor@hdna.org
The evening's are cooling off - perfect for a walk. But a change of pace is needed from the usual route.
Here's an idea: Head to Lively Park where the walking track is lit for evening walks and is open daily until 10 PM.
Lively Park has access by foot and car by turning East from MacArthur Boulevard onto either North or South Blaylock Circle (See the map).
And, there is also access from the Lively Senior Center on O'Connor Road across from Irving High School.
It is also possible to walk down Limetree and follow the viaduct and cross the bridge to Lively Park.If this is convenient for you, it can add a new, fun adventure to your route.

HDNA.org was created in February 2000 as a gift to residents to provide technology to connect people through the Internet and create a neighborhood cyber-community.
Its aim is an improved style of neighborhood association - one that keeps the best aspects, while eliminated the boring meetings, gossip, politics and other inefficiencies of older methods of communication.

By eliminating scheduling conflicts, telephone tag, and delays in waiting for endless meetings to happen, your HDNA.org web site will connect you anytime YOU choose. And, you can present feedback and ideas as often and as many times as you like.
Newlsetters are currently mailed to residents and area businesses, and we can get together for events and projects you want to help with or take part in.
HDNA is the only organization to incude ALL of the streets that have been known for decades as the Hospital District, and whose boundaries were drawn by history, and common use by both residents and real estate professionals. See the Map for details.
With hundreds of participants, we are well on our way and it is very exciting to see it grow together.
With on-line tools and 24/7 availability, you'll be able to work on what you want, when you want, and communicate with your neighbors when it's convenient for you. HDNA.org is a simple recipe of philanthropy and fun.
Participation is completely FREE and as easy as sending mail, dialing a phone, or clicking email.
Our thanks to Future World Corporation for it's generous support in printing and mailing the HDNA Leaf-Let newsletter.
